I was the Reference, Liaison, Collection Management librarian at WelTec from 2004-2009, and helped manage the library website. I used skills learnt through an Electronic Media Production Diploma and Film & Television Certificate at WelTec, to branch into web design.
As a student, I worked part time in the libary. I loved shelving and fixing books and tidying and creating signage for the library.
Through the media programme, we learn't about the core principles of design and graphics -fonts, images, proportions, centring, white space, and proximity.
I learnt HTML, basic programming, multimedia principles and methods, and film and video production. I specialised in editing. Many of my fellow students were Affer Effects wizards. We even recorded a few albums as part of our audio production course. We made so many videos and went out on film shoots and I enjoyed the whole experience, from scope to final edit. We had a TV show and a music radio station.
In the library, online search, databases, and Google became predominant, and online resources the new wave of knowledge sharing. I became adept at database searching, and loved finding key online resources for students through the library website and online subject guides.

I helped create over 20 subject guides on the original library website.
For the new Spydus site we created a PDF template for the subject guide content.
I researched a new CMS built for libraries called "Libguides" which organises subject guide content into snazzy multipurpose widgets and seamless links.
I created a Libguide demo which is still a work in progress, and is just an idea and not published.

My first task as the new Information Literacy and E-learning Coordinator at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 2009, was to write a research report and roadmap for library e-learning.
I created a prototype for a potential new website/ course design.
